Privacy Policy — Chrome Extension

This Privacy Policy describes how the Chrome extension “Conversation Graph for ChatGPT, Claude, and Grok by KnowTree” (the “Extension”) handles information. The Extension is published by Yoav Dori (“we,” “us,” or “our”), the operator of KnowTree (knowtree.chat). This policy applies only to the browser extension. It does not cover the separate KnowTree web application at knowtree.chat, which is governed by its own Privacy Policy.

1. Summary

The Extension does not collect, transmit, store, or share any personal or sensitive user data. Everything it does happens locally in your browser. No account is required. No data is sent to KnowTree’s servers or to any other third party.

2. What the Extension Does

The Extension adds a sidebar to ChatGPT (chatgpt.com, chat.openai.com), Claude (claude.ai), and Grok (grok.com) that visualizes the current conversation as an interactive tree. It reads the conversation data that the host site already exposes to your browser, builds the tree entirely on your device, and renders the sidebar in the page.

3. Information Accessed Locally

• Conversation structure and message content that ChatGPT, Claude, or Grok returns to your browser through their own APIs. This includes message IDs, parent/child relationships, text content, and timestamps associated with the conversation you are viewing.
• Page DOM elements needed to render the sidebar and navigate to specific messages.

This data is used only to construct and display the graph visualization in the current tab. It is not transmitted off your device.

4. Local Storage

The Extension uses Chrome’s storage API to save a small amount of non-personal user interface state on your device, such as sidebar width, collapsed/expanded state, and theme preference. This data is stored locally by your browser and is not shared with any third party.

5. No Data Transmission

The Extension does not send any data to KnowTree’s servers or any third-party server, does not use analytics or telemetry, does not require authentication, does not activate outside the supported AI chat hosts, and does not access your browsing history, bookmarks, downloads, passwords, or files.

6. Permissions Explained

• storage — to save sidebar UI preferences on your device.
• Host permissions for chatgpt.com, chat.openai.com, claude.ai, and grok.com — so content scripts can run on these sites and render the sidebar. The Extension does not activate on any other site.

7. Third-Party Services

The Extension itself does not integrate with any third-party service. When you use ChatGPT, Claude, or Grok, those products process your conversation according to their own privacy policies. The Extension only reads what your browser has already received from them.

8. Children’s Privacy

The Extension is not directed to children under the age of 13 and does not knowingly collect any data from any user.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Updates will be reflected in the “Effective date” at the top of this page. Continued use of the Extension after an update constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
