Do I need my own API keys?

No. KnowTree handles all the AI infrastructure for you. Just sign up and start chatting — no API keys, no setup, no technical knowledge required. You get access to models from OpenAI, Anthropic, Google, xAI, and Perplexity out of the box.

Can I export my conversations?

Yes. You can export any conversation tree as a structured document or share a read-only link with others. Your data is always yours.

Absolutely. Your conversations are stored securely and are never used to train AI models. Each conversation is private to your account, and you can delete your data at any time.

1. Introduction and Acceptance

These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of KnowTree (available at knowtree.chat), operated by Yoav Dori (“we,” “us,” or “our”). By accessing or using KnowTree, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the service.

We also maintain a Privacy Policy that describes how we collect, use, and share your information. By using KnowTree, you also agree to our Privacy Policy.

2. Description of Service

KnowTree is a knowledge exploration platform that enables branching, tree-structured conversations with AI models. Users can create, branch, and navigate AI conversations across multiple models and providers. The service is provided as a web application hosted on Vercel (frontend) and Fly.io (backend).

3. Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years of age to use KnowTree. By using the service, you represent that you meet this minimum age requirement. If you are under 18, you represent that you have your parent’s or guardian’s permission to use the service.

4. Account Registration and Security

To access most features of KnowTree, you must create an account using Google OAuth. You are responsible for maintaining the security of your Google account and for all activity that occurs under your KnowTree account. You agree to notify us immediately if you become aware of any unauthorized use of your account.

We also offer a limited guest mode that does not require account registration. Guest sessions are temporary and subject to reduced functionality and usage limits.

5. Subscription Plans and Billing

KnowTree offers free and paid subscription plans. Paid plans provide access to additional AI models, higher usage limits, and premium features.

All payments are processed by Freemius, which acts as our Merchant of Record. Freemius handles all billing, payment processing, invoicing, and refunds. KnowTree never sees or stores your payment card details. Your billing relationship for payment purposes is with Freemius, and their terms apply to payment processing.

Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each billing period unless you cancel before the renewal date. You may cancel your subscription at any time through the Freemius billing portal.

6. Acceptable Use

You agree not to use KnowTree to:

Violate any applicable law or regulation
Generate content that is illegal, harmful, threatening, abusive, harassing, defamatory, or otherwise objectionable
Attempt to circumvent usage limits, rate limiting, or access controls
Interfere with or disrupt the service or servers connected to the service
Use automated means (bots, scrapers) to access the service without our written permission
Reverse-engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract the source code of the service
Use the service to develop a competing product
Impersonate any person or entity, or misrepresent your affiliation with any person or entity

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your account if you violate these terms.

7. AI-Generated Content

KnowTree provides access to AI models from third-party providers including OpenAI, Anthropic, Google, xAI, and Perplexity. You acknowledge and agree that:

No endorsement. AI-generated responses do not represent the views or opinions of KnowTree or its operator. We do not endorse, verify, or guarantee the accuracy of any AI output.
No professional advice. AI outputs should not be treated as legal, medical, financial, or other professional advice. Always consult a qualified professional for such matters.
Potential inaccuracies. AI models may produce incorrect, incomplete, misleading, or biased information. You are responsible for evaluating and verifying any AI-generated content before relying on it.
Your responsibility. You are solely responsible for how you use AI-generated content. KnowTree is not liable for any decisions or actions you take based on AI outputs.
Content ownership. Your prompts and inputs remain yours. AI-generated outputs are subject to the terms of the underlying AI provider. KnowTree does not claim ownership of your conversations or AI-generated content.

8. Intellectual Property

The KnowTree service, including its design, code, features, and branding, is owned by Yoav Dori and protected by applicable intellectual property laws. These Terms do not grant you any right to use our trademarks, logos, or brand features.

You retain ownership of the content you create and input into KnowTree, subject to any rights granted to AI providers through the processing of your prompts.

9. Third-Party Services

KnowTree integrates with and relies on third-party services including AI model providers (OpenAI, Anthropic, Google, xAI, Perplexity), Freemius (billing), Google (authentication and analytics), Loops.so (email), Fly.io (hosting), and Vercel (hosting). These services have their own terms and privacy policies. We are not responsible for the practices or availability of third-party services.

10. Data Transmission to AI Providers

When you use KnowTree to interact with AI models, the content of your conversation (including your prompts and prior messages in the conversation branch) is transmitted to the selected AI provider’s API for processing. This is necessary to generate responses. Each AI provider processes your data according to their own terms of service and privacy policy.

We use API access (not consumer-tier access) to these providers, which generally means your data is not used to train their models. However, you should review each provider’s API terms for their specific data handling practices.

11. Service Availability and Modifications

We strive to keep KnowTree available and reliable, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free operation. We may modify, suspend, or discontinue any part of the service at any time, with or without notice. We may also update the available AI models, features, and usage limits as the service evolves.

12. Termination

You may delete your account at any time through the Settings page. Account deletion has a 7-day grace period during which you can cancel the deletion by signing back in. After the grace period, your account and associated data will be permanently deleted.

We may suspend or terminate your account at any time if you violate these Terms or if we determine, in our sole discretion, that your continued use poses a risk to the service or other users.

Upon termination, your right to use the service ceases immediately. Sections of these Terms that by their nature should survive termination will survive, including but not limited to disclaimers, limitations of liability, and indemnification.

13. Disclaimers

KNOWTREE IS PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE” WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, WHETHER EXPRESS, IMPLIED, OR STATUTORY, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT.

We do not warrant that the service will meet your requirements, that AI-generated content will be accurate or reliable, or that the service will be uninterrupted, secure, or free of errors or harmful components.

14. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, in no event shall Yoav Dori or KnowTree be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits, data, use, or goodwill, arising out of or in connection with your use of or inability to use the service, regardless of the theory of liability.

Our total aggregate liability for all claims arising from or related to the service shall not exceed the amount you paid us in the twelve (12) months preceding the event giving rise to the claim, or $100 USD, whichever is greater.

15. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless Yoav Dori and KnowTree from and against any claims, liabilities, damages, losses, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of or in any way connected with your access to or use of the service, your violation of these Terms, or your violation of any third-party rights.

16. Governing Law

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of Israel, without regard to its conflict of law provisions. Any disputes arising from or relating to these Terms or your use of the service shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts located in Tel Aviv, Israel.

17. Changes to Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. When we make changes, we will update the “Effective date” at the top of this page. Your continued use of KnowTree after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the updated Terms. We encourage you to review these Terms periodically.

18. General Provisions

Entire Agreement. These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and us regarding KnowTree.
Severability. If any provision of these Terms is found to be unenforceable, the remaining provisions will continue in full force and effect.
Waiver. Our failure to enforce any right or provision of these Terms shall not constitute a waiver of that right or provision.
Assignment. You may not assign or transfer your rights under these Terms without our prior written consent. We may assign our rights and obligations without restriction.
